New improvements November 1st

Starting November 1st I will be posting more blogs and also a few vlogs. DIY Fridays will stay the same only this week there will be doing 2 DIY one hopefully today if not tomorrow and the other on its normal day which is Friday. Keep an eye out for November 1st the blogs/vlogs will vary from first impressions, DIY, unboxings and more to come!

DIY Stationery

It's DIY Friday once again, and there is a slight chance I've might have forgotten. (Due to mid-terms lol) So I decided to do a quick and easy DIY for an everyday use. With the holidays right around the corner I thought I would show you guys how to make customized stationery. 

What you will need:

• Paper ( I used construction paper)
• Sequins or glitter
• Glue
• Scissors 
• Envelope to use as a template

Step 1: Unfold envelope, trace a template over the construction paper and cut out.

Step 2: Fold over appropriate flaps, then glue left and right flaps with the squared flap over.

 

Step 3: For the card make a square and cut out about 1/2 inch smaller then the envelope. 

Step 4: Now time to glue the sequins! I just randomly dropped the sequins on opposite sides and began gluing. ***Also after everything was finished I felt like the envelope needed one last touch up***

And you're pretty much finished like I said I accidentally forgot it was DIY Friday so I thought I would do something quick, easy, and cute at the same time so I came up with stationery. lol The end result I added a glittered heart to the envelope! :)

Today is...

Hey Loves Mir here and yes you guessed it today is DIY Friday! I'm going to show you how to make a rather affordable wall clock. You can do whatever design or picture you want. I chose to do a companion cube clock off the game Portal. You can find these supplies at Wal-Mart, craft stores, dollar stores, or Big Lots.

All you need is: 
     * Canvas Board
     * Painters Tape
     * Acrylic Paint ( because I chose to do a companion cube wall clock the colors I chose were -Pink -Grey -Dark Grey and -Black
     * Foam Brushes
     * Number Stickers or Foam Stickers
     * Clock ( I found a Made by Me! Paint Your Own Wooden Clock for $7.00 at Big Lots and used that clock)
     * Ruler and Pen

The next few steps are a bit time consuming only because I had to measure everything. After that it should be a walk in the park.

Step 1: Being that it is a Portal theme I am doing I had to make 2 squares. The top left corner is measured at 10x9. Then I measured the bottom right corner at 10x10 or 10x101/2. Measure and tape. **The picture below is taken at an angel so the bottom right corner is actually the bottom left, the top right corner is actually the bottom right and so forth if you understand what I am talking about.**

Step 2: The next few steps DO NOT hesitate on them, because once again you are going to be drawing your own designs. I went on Google and searched images on which I wanted to draw and how I was going to place them. After many searches I decided to focus on the companion cube. For the bottom right hand corner I decided I wanted to do the actual companion cube. I free-handed the cube it took a while to get the circle just right everything else was rather easy the circle I was having problems with. **Be sure when you're drawing make it light erasing was a bit hard for me lol**
I took my time and did one square at a time as well with painting. 

Step 3: Believe it or not we are half way there!!! YAY!!! Like I said the only thing that was time consuming for me was the drawing part. So in this step I'm just going to show you guys my drawing and painting process and then add the initial step below the photo. **Also before I forget the top left corner I chose to place the clock on there so I basically just painted that pink and added light grey lines. :) 

**Okay now wherever you decide you want to place the clock, what you want to do is cut a small hole out with an X-Acto so you can fit the clock. I decided to use the pink square, then I found the middle of the square or course by measuring. After I eyeballed and made a small hole, if the hole is too small continue to cut until the clock fits in FITTED(it has to be on there tight so it doesn't flop around).

Step 4: Now if you do happen to find the make your own clock at Big Lots or something similar the directions are really easy to follow. One thing I did not follow was they said to put the numbers on first I chose the hard way and did it last, only because I felt it would be more accurate. For those of you who decided to go to a thrift shop and buy a clock and become a mechanic by taking apart and putting the clock back together. All I have to say is if you manage to do this freaking MAD PROPS for you. Believe me I tried doing this thinking I was Martha Stewart and I failed miserably. That is why I chose the easy way out as The Addicts would say "It was the easy way out."

 Step 5: I set the clock to 12:00 (this includes all the hand on 12:00), by doing that I went ahead and added the number 12 on it. I used sticky notes and eyeballed where I would place the numbers. Once I did that I felt that this part was a bit time consuming for me only because I waited for the minute hand to get to the 3. After waiting for 15mins I placed the number 3, then waited a little bit long for the minute hand to reach 6, and of course placed the number and continued for the number 9 and placed it (I would do a little cleaning while you wait lol). The rest was easy after this long process if the second hand happens to be on one of those 4 numbers (12, 3, 6, or 9) I would count the second and begin placing the rest of the numbers.

And finally for the finish result, the anticipation that was killing both you and I....drum roll please!!
